Before I left for studying abroad in Italy, everyone told me I had to come back with awesome leather goods. The one item everyone recommended purchasing was a leather jacket. I was a broke college student at the time, so didn’t end up getting one my first time around and regretted it. Then I went back in 2011 and was determined to find the perfect one to add to my wardrobe. Thankfully I found a gorgeous, brown leather one (see photo) in the streets of Florence. It’s one of my favorite pieces of clothing that I know will last for a long time. It’s so versatile, surprisingly warm and really comfortable.
Fall is really the optimal season for leather jackets as it’s cool but the sun is still strong enough where the day can warm up. This is when I wear my jacket the most, especially on chilly nights out. A leather jacket though can be worn all year round since it’s a great layering piece. Just watch out for those really humid days, depending on where you live! I believe it’s one of those items that everyone should have in their wardrobe, and you can get a solid style no matter what your budget. Your less likely to get genuine leather with a lower budget. But hey – you can still have the style and comfort for an affordable price! You also don’t have to fly to Italy ;).
Here are some of my favorite leather jacket styles at a variety of price points.
